Symphyotrichum -Asters are among autumn’s standout flowers. Like their cousins the Pacific Aster, Tall Asters are fast growing, evergreen perennials that spread via rhizomes or underground stems. Daisy-like flowers are usually lavender with yellow centers. They are forgiving of most soil types and tolerate a range of exposures from full sun to light shade though plants tend to be sturdier and produce more flowers in sunnier locations. The taller varieties grow 4-8’ and are best planted to the back of garden beds or in containers.
